Spring 2012 Colour Trends

OOH!  I know that I have been doing a LOT of colour based posts lately – but let me tell you.  Colour – Flowers.  They go hand in hand.  Here are our 2012 Colour Trends reported from Pantone!

Feature Flower of the Week – Trachelium

Trachelium, also called Trach, is one of my favorite filler flowers and it comes in white, green and purple.  Here are some of my recent designs featuring it’s loveliness from May!

 

Feature Flower of the Week – Sweet Peas

I LOVE SWEET PEAS – They are so dainty and delicate…. But they also don’t last very long as a cut flower or out of water.  They are available in the Spring and come in many colours including white, pinks, purples, and some reds and oranges which are not as readily available as are the pinky tones.

Feature Flower of the Week – Gerbera

Gerbera – Also known as Gerbs and Gerber Daisies.  Available all year around with it’s best availability in the summer.  Large Gerbera (10 cm or larger) are around $3 per stem while Mini Gerbera (smaller than 10 cm) are around $2.50 per stem.

Now, Gerbera and I have a love-hate relationship.  I love that they come in hundreds of colours, hues and shades of beautiful yellows, pinks, reds, oranges and now purple too.  I don’t love that gerbera have a mind of their own and rarely stay where you want them to, hold their head up like you want them to.  Gerbera, though fairly inexpensive, take a lot of work – they need to be wired and taped because of their hollow stem.  They are thirsty flowers that annoy me.  But many brides like the Gerbera and their laid back “cutesy” look.
